Negative SEO Case Study (Underway)

It’s official — we’ve attacked ourselves. Over the past few months, the team at Negative SEO has been preparing to attack ourselves to better understand how Google reacts to both ‘money keyword attacks,’ vs ‘SPAM anchor text attacks.’ The attack will be rolled out over the next few weeks against a URL we own for testing purposes. The first URL is the website that currently ranks, fairly well. Here’s what the first test looks like…

  1. 200K + Links w/ Optimized ‘Money’ anchor text against a well-ranked single page (internal page, not the root URL).
  2. The attack will roll out over several weeks
  3. We will be monitoring daily rankings as the attack completes.

In addition to this test, we have several other tests that will include spam anchor text negative SEO, homepage attacks and multiple page attacks.

Why attack ourselves?

Negative SEO.com exists purely as a service to help individuals and businesses defense against negative SEO attacks. The purpose of self-inflected attacks is to better understand under various scenarios of how Google reacts negative SEO attacks.

Over the years, NegativeSEO.com (formally Altitude Agency) has been combating on-going negative SEO attacks. Most recently, NuLeaf Naturals has fallen victim to these types of attacks after gaining notoriety for being featured as Colorado’s fastest-growing business and 11th in the nation by Inc, 5000. With success comes trouble, in this case – haters trying to bring them down.

This is why we do what we do.
